Basketball legend, DJ, and rapper Shaquille O\u2019Neal has spoken concerning the time Ice Dice stopped him from releasing a Dr. Dre-produced tune named That\u2019s Gangsta.<\/p>\n
Talking on a brand new episode of The Massive Podcast, Shaq remembers how Dice had determined to scrap the tune as a result of he thought the previous NBA star was \u201cextra than simply gangsta\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cDice was govt producing one in all my information and he put me within the studio with Dr. Dre,\u201d Shaq says. \u201cI did a tune referred to as That\u2019s Gangsta. Dice heard it and was like, \u2018Nope. We\u2019re not releasing this.\u2019 Dre did the beat.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI believed it was good,\u201d he provides, \u201cafter which I performed it for Dice\u2026 He was like, \u2018Shaq, you\u2019re a fucking Laker, bro. I don\u2019t need you speaking about nothing gangsta. We not doing none of that shit.\u2019 And it by no means got here out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Explaining his causes for pulling the brakes on the discharge, Dice says: \u201cShaq is a dope MC, however I simply felt the file was off-brand for him as a result of, to me, he\u2019s extra than simply gangsta.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s beloved by tens of millions, beloved by children. He already established that. And why go backward while you\u2019re already ahead? You\u2019re already a family title.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Shaq, that incident taught him an essential life lesson \u2014 to \u201ckeep true to who you might be,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrigger I ain\u2019t gonna lie. You guys wanna be basketball gamers, I needed to be y\u2019all rising up.\u201d<\/p>\n
